Our Success Stories

Since 1992, Global Media Connect (GMC) has grown into a large holding company in several countries in the world, including the USA, Germany, Indonesia, Singapore, SAR China, South Korea, Thailand, and India.

    Founded as a service company for premium rate telephone, fax and teletext services with news for the media industry.

    Started a software department to develop applications and services for TV and radio broadcasters.
  • 1997

    1997
    Founded subsidiary to create the local radio station Radio Hitwelle. In the first two years Christian had his own radio show.
  • 2003

    2003
    Founded SmartCast as a SaaS company for TV and radio broadcasters – migrated the software department into the new entity.
  • 2008

    2008
    Global Media Connect shifted all operations into subsidiaries and became a holding company for several different subsidiaries with activities in the media industry.

    2011
    SmartCast funded several offices, with a focus on Asia. While our clients were mainly US-based TV companies like Turner, Disney, and Fox, our operation was performed where we opened our offices: Princeton (USA), Hong Kong (SAR China), Singapore (Singapore), Seoul (South Korea), Mumbai (India), Bangkok (Thailand), and Jakarta (Indonesia).

    2013
    Extracted the radio business and split TV and radio operation. Prepared the TV business for a potential acquisition and made the radio business ready to continue stand-alone in a new company NexCast.
  • 2014

    2014
    100% acquisition of SmartCast and all eight subsidiaries by SES S.A., the world’s largest satellite company. Kept SmartCast stand-alone in the €2 billion revenue SES enterprise. Managing Directors Christian and Alex stayed on board with C-Level roles.

    Founded two fully owned subsidiaries in Jakarta, Indonesia and got permission of the BKPM authority to operate a fully foreign-owned company for innovative services. Prepared for future businesses.

    Full integration of SmartCast’s services in SES. As planned, Managing Directors Christian and Alex left after three years.

    Creating “Global Technology Alliance” in Hong Kong by the two formers SmartCast MDs Christian and Alex. Started with $2 millions of our own funds for investments in technology startups.

    Created a new radio SaaS platform “Radio.Cloud” to use our combined knowledge, experience, and passion to take radio to the next level by shifting broadcast operations into the cloud.

    Enormous success of Radio.Cloud in the European market. Germany starts a 2nd national DAB (Digital Radio) multiplex with 16 channels, and the majority of these national radio stations choose Radio.Cloud for their 24/7 operation.

    2021
    The radio entity was renamed from NexCast to Radio.Cloud and became 100% focused on the cloud business. Former traditional business (studio construction and operation) were sold to partner companies.

    Opened subsidiary in New York to roll out Radio.Cloud in North and South America.
